Joining the Housing Register

To apply, you must be:

Apply online through this website. If you cannot apply online, contact the council you wish to apply to for help.

Documents you will need

You will be asked to provide:

  • ID for everyone in your household (passport, birth certificate)
  • Proof of your current address (recent bill)
  • Proof of your right to live in the UK if you’re not a British citizen
  • Proof of local connection
  • Proof of child-related benefits (if relevant)
  • Any other documents we request

If you do not provide the documents within 28 days, your application will be cancelled.

Verification

All applications are checked. This may include a home visit and verification of the documents you provide.
