To complete an online application form go to Register. You will first be asked to 'Register your household'. Once you have done this you will need to click on 'Apply for Social Housing' to complete an application. You must answer all of the questions fully and, on completion of the final page, actually submit the application.

If the application is not completed and submitted within 28 days of starting the application, the form will be deleted and you will need to reapply.

Once you are accepted onto the Hampshire Home Choice Housing Register you will receive a letter with the following information:

  • Your Hampshire Home Choice registration number.
  • The band your application has been placed in and your priority date.
  • The number of bedrooms your household is entitled to.

Tell us about Changes

You must tell us if there are any changes in your circumstances so that we can reassess your application and, if necessary, make changes to your band and priority date. If you are currently registered on Hampshire Home Choice and your circumstances have changed, please Login to update your application. If you require help, please contact the Council your application is registered with.

Property Size

You will only be eligible for properties that are suitable for the size of your family. The following table tells you how we normally decide on the number of bedrooms that you are eligible for:

If you have an unborn baby and no other children you will not be assessed as requiring an additional bedroom until the child is born and a copy of the birth certificate has been received. If in the meantime you are successful for a 1 bedroom property, it will remain the landlord’s decision whether they accept you for a 1 bedroom property.

* The maximum number of bedrooms will follow the rule for age and sex separation given for families with two children.

  • Two siblings of the same sex under 16 years of age will be expected to share one bedroom of appropriate size.
  • Two siblings of opposite sex where one is 10 years or over are entitled to separate bedrooms.
